Debby Bradford, a former NAUI instructor from Florida, is an avid kayak diver. She is a member of the KAYUBA Kayak SCUBA club of Fort Lauderdale, and she actually met her life partner, Tom, because of their mutual interest in the sport. You will enjoy her multimedia experience, which will answer the first question on everyone’s lips, “how do you get your gear and your body in and out of the kayak?” Debby will discuss boat selection, gear loading and security, safety, launch points, and why kayak diving is the perfect sport for all St. Croix divers and snorkelers.

March 13th meeting, 6:30, at The Nature Conservancy.
The program for March will be The Reef Jam Group detailing who they are and what they do. CRABBS is a big help at Reef Jam. Thought our members would like to know more about it.
Reef Jam is a grass-roots organization on St. Croix with a mission to promote marine conservation and stewardship through community education and outreach. Excited to be celebrating the 5th annual Reef Jam this year on Sunday May 27th, come join them as they share how they came about, their fundraising tactics, and all the great projects that have been supported by the money fundraised at Reef Jam. This will also be a great opportunity to share your thoughts on new projects that Reef Jam can support, and to learn how to get involved this year. http://www.ReefJam.com
CRABBS has started Dive Caching on St Croix. Come join us on Sunday, February 19th, and learn how it works. We will be meeting in the courtyard at Polly’s to get logged in and signed up. Once you get your directions you will suit up with your small group and go out to see if you can find the Cache. The activity will run between 9:00 and Noon, you can bring your own group or join one there. We will be staggering the dives so you can show up anytime and join in the fun! Hope to see you there.
Our meeting this month is on Valentine’s Day, however we have a wonderful presentation that should make it a good way to spend the evening with your loved one. Cor and Julie Bosman are professional underwater photographers that will be presenting photos from their month long trip to Komodo Indonesia. Included in their presentation will be close-up pictures of the famous Komodo Dragons. We hope you will join us for a truly unique opportunity.
We are starting off the new year with a family friendly activity that both divers and non-divers can enjoy!
Come spend the day at Butler Bay. Located on the northwest side of the island, this cove sports a lovely sand beach where snorkeling or swimming are a fun option if diving is not your thing. If diving is your thing you can either dive the inner reef or take the shuttle boat out to be dropped off at the wrecks, you will do your safety stop with the swim back into shore.
This is a free club activity, however if any of our professionals give you some extra help you might consider a tip, as this is a “busman’s holiday” for them.
Pack a lunch, bring chairs and whatever gear you will need and meet us out on the beach! The fun begins at 9:30 am, hope to see you there!
Come to the meeting Tuesday, January 10th at The Nature Conservancy, 6:30 PM to re-new your membership for 2012.
